The San Diego County Prevention Council was formed after a series of roundtable forums in San Diego and Imperial Counties as part of the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s Major Cities Initiative. The goal of the San Diego County Prevention Council is to coordinate the implementation of federal prevention strategies and policies and to create a comprehensive strategic plan for demand reduction in our border region.


Mission

To connect a broad base of leaders and develop integrated approaches to addressing regional challenges and opportunities in substance abuse prevention.

Goal 1. Collect, analyze, validate, and improve current substance abuse benchmark indicators and data.
Goal 2. Enhance regional communication amongst ONDCP Drug-Free Community Support Program grantees and other prevention service organizations throughout San Diego County.
Goal 3. Engage and educate elected officials, policy makers and media in prevention issues.
