The San Diego Prevention Coalition (SDPC) is based in San Diego, CA and is a leader in substance abuse prevention. Our mission is to collaborate with other community-based prevention stakeholders in creating safe and drug-free communities for youth.
SDPC was founded as a non-profit 501(c)(3) in 1999, and for the past ten years has been a SAHMSA-funded Drug Free Communities (DFC) grantee. SDPC currently partners with well over 100 community-based organizations and agencies in developing anti-drug policy and crafting environmental strategies for preventing youth drug abuse. Our partners include: units of local, state, federal government and law enforcement; other DFCs and community-based prevention agencies; county-wide school districts; county and state departments of Health and Human Services; faith-based organizations; office of the county district attorney; and, corporations and other parent and youth-based prevention advocates.
Currently, our focus is on collaborative policy development in supporting prevention strategies targeting; cannabis; methamphetamine; and, prescription drug abuse. We also develop services and resources that provide a wide range of collaborative supports and economies of scale to our partner organizations.
